Transform Your Life

What’s the best way to make a difference in the quality of your life. The answer lies not with one-time actions, which offer temporary results, but with embracing the concept of long-term pattern. Any discipline (playing a sport, learning a new language, utilizing a meditation) becomes a tool for growth when it’s performed daily. Starting out, hitting plateaus, sticking with it and pushing send on–these steps all lead toward personal transformation.

Nobody understands the benefits of praxis better than George Leonard, co-author of The Life We Are Given. Leonard, along with Esalen Institute co-founder Michael Murphy, developed Integral Transformative Practice, a pioneering program that streamlines exercise for people with busy schedules. Each 40-minute ITP session integrates elements of hatha yoga, martial arts, stretching, progressive relaxation, visualization, meditation and affirmation. ITP, tested for three years by the Stanford Center for Research in Disease Prevention, provided measurable gains in reaction time, short- and long-term memory, reasoning ability and global cognitive processing.

This allowed participants to become more focused and better able to manifest their goals. Make a commitment to use this daily drill as your own stepping stone to a healthier, happier life. There’s one catch: Learning a new skill takes time, and there’s no such thing as “instant enlightenment.” We must put into practice session what we wish to be. ITP is based on the kata–a pre-determined sequence that is, in a sense, a moving meditation. So take a deep breath, slow down, and get ready to embark on a life-altering journey.

Spine Extension: Inspire, and extend your coat of arms in front of you. Raise your blazon overhead, bending the knees slightly and leaning backrest from the hips without straining your spinal column. Forward Bend: Expire, and hinge onward at the hips, releasing your blazonry and drumhead down, custody touching the flooring at the sides of your feet. (You can bend your legs slightly.) 4. Lunge: Breathe in and look advancing, elongating your vertebral column.

Bend your right field knee joint, aligning it across your rightfulness ankle joint, as you step binding with your left field foot, placing your left hand articulatio genus on the level. Keep your chest of drawers open and shoulders relaxed. Downward Facing Dog: Breathe out, and extend your right hand foot book binding to meet the left wing as you straighten both legs. Lift your hips to form an inverted V. Firm your thighs, and look cover at your knees. Keep your neck long and weaponry heterosexual, not locked.

Chatarunga (yoga push-up): , and lower berth your knees to the storey, with implements of war heterosexual person and wrists aligned under shoulders. Your trunk should form a straight person line from read/write head to hips. Move your bureau toward the story by bending your elbows, retention them close to your sides. Cobra: Continue to inhale. 2, cross your right wing mortise joint your.

How To Get What You Want In Life

Most high achieving men and women are intensely goal-oriented. While most under-achieving men and women have poorly defined goals, if they have any goals at all. This is one of the main reasons why the majority of people suffer from the frustration of feeling that they are accomplishing very little in life.

The ability to set goals and make plans for their accomplishment is the master skill of success. It is the single most important skill that you can learn and perfect. Goal-setting will do more to help you achieve the things you want in life than anything else you can do.

Becoming an expert at goal-setting and goal-achieving is something that you absolutely must do if you want to reach your full potential as a human being. Goals enable you to do the work you want to do, to live where you want to live, to be with the people you enjoy, and to become the kind of person you want to become.

When you develop the habit of setting clear and realistic goals there is no limit to the financial rewards you can obtain. All you have to do is to set a specific goal for financial success your desire, make a plan, and then work the plan until you achieve it.

The payoff for setting goals and making plans is being able to choose the kind of life you want to live. With this being said, it’s amazing that so few people set goals. Over the past 50 years many organizations and educational institutions have conducted studies on goal-setting. Virtually every study has shown the same startling results. On average, only 3 percent of Americans have written goals and less than 1 percent review and rewrite their goals on a daily basis.

With all of this evidence showing what a person can achieve by setting goals. Why is that so few people actually do it? Over the past 25 years I have consulted with and spoken to thousands of men and women about goal setting, and I have found that there are five common reasons why people don’t set goals:

The first reason I’ve found that people don’t set goals, is that they feel they’ve done well without setting goals. If it’s not broken, why fix it?

Given the power of goals to transform lives, I’m always astonished how often I hear this from people. It’s easy to be satisfied if you’ve never set goals. It’s convenient to say that everything is fine if you don’t know where you’re going. You can always say that any destination you arrive at is OK.

The second reason I most often hear from people, is that they do have goals, they just keep them in their head. Most people believe in the fewest motions possible to get things done.

A person who thinks this way, does not have goals. They have wishes, desires, hopes, and dreams. Dreams come to all of us as we go about our daily business. Wishes drift in and out of our conscious thoughts. We think of new interests we’d like to pursue, changes we’d like to make, and great things we’d like to achieve, someday. We’re pretty sure we have the ability, and fully intend to do all those things sometime in the future.

The ludicrous nature of this way of thinking is that unless those vague intentions are translated into specific goals, they will drift into that never-never land called “Might Have Been,” and they will take your life with them.

Unfortunately, this is precisely the way most people conduct their lives. They claim they have goals when they do not. Until dreams are translated into specific goals, thay rarely become a reality, and even if they do, the person is denied the deep satisfaction that would have come from translating his or her dream into a specific goal and achieving it.

The third reason I find that people don’t set goals is that they’re afraid of failing. The person feels that without goals, he or she doesn’t have to worry about failing.

The problem with this way of thinking is that it goes against the foundation of life itself: you can’t be born without risk. You’re only kidding yourself if you think you can live without risk, no matter how carefully you tend to the financial, physical, and emotional aspects of your life. There are always risks in everything you do and setting goals involves risk.

You may succeed. But you may also fail. If you fail, then what? Risk taking is part of the process of growth. So is failure. You must be willing to risk failure again and again if you want to be in the company of the world’s most successful men and women.

Make a friend of failure. Use it as a valuable learning experience, a great motivator, and a necessary step on the road to success. At one point or another in their lives, some of the world’s most successful people have been miserable failures. Winston Churchill once said, “I would rather fail my way to success than be a successful failure.”

The fourth reason I find that people don’t set goals, is that they feel that by setting goals and achieving them, they will be expected to live up to their goals in the future. After achieving a goal where is their motivation going to come from to move on from that point?

This train of thought is even more ludicrous than the first three, because you become more motivated as you approach a goal. When you achieve a goal, you will want to try a more demanding one. Nothing approaches the motivating power that comes from systematically setting and achieving your own demanding goals.

The fifth reason I have found why people don’t set goals, is that they only set goals when there’s a need. I always hear things like, “I set goals when I have a major project at work, or when I want a larger house, or a new car.”

People with this type of thinking need to understand that goal setting is not an occasional need. It is a process that transforms lives and that mastering this process of setting and achieving goals is at the heart of life itself. If you don’t act intentionally, with purpose, you will be condemned to a life of mediocrity, in which anything meaningful occurs only accidentally.

I have given the most common reasons why most people don’t set goals, now let’s talk about criteria for effective goals that turn dreams into satisfying reality.

1. They must have a definite purpose. Why do you want to achieve the goal?

2. They must written and rewritten every day.

3. They must be measurable.

4. They must be visible in a place where you can see them everyday.

5. They must have deadlines. A goal without a deadline is simply a wish.

6. They must be realistic and achievable.

7. They must be demanding.

8. Goals must be flexible. You will often have to make changes to achieve your goal.

Effective goals will keep you very focused. Nothing will get in your way. Effective goals will liberate you rather than shackle you. They will improve the quality of your life. Effective goals will give your life balance, they will motivate you, they will challenge you, and they will allow you to live your dreams. Without goals, you can only dream your dreams.

21 Life Changing Questions You Can’t Afford to Not Ask!

Imagine finally taking off seven coats you’ve been wearing on top of each other for years and years. You’ve forgotten that some people consciously choose to live without seven layers of coats on even though most people are living that way.

You remember the possibilities you imagined your life would be when you were a child. You decide to take off the coats and start running joyfully through the spring fields you forgot about. You move into the light where you finally begin to laugh and live feeling inspired every day instead of simply walking around reacting to life, complaining, counting down the days to the next weekend or vacation until you finally die.

Start taking off the coats that have layered your soul since you started to grow up. Forget about the negativity of the news. Don’t believe negative people telling you that you cant make more money or move to a nicer city or do anything to better your life. Ignore all the forces telling you what you cant do. Close your ears to people who blame their boss, the government, their friends, and their circumstances for what they dont like about their lives.

It’s time to leave ‘em all behind and say ‘See ya!’ It’s time to adopt a new Belief System (yeah, whatever we believe is simply B.S. - just opinions we made up that may or may not actually be true.) It’s time to drop all that limited thinking that keeps you stuck on the birth-school-work(paycheck-to-paycheck)-death merry-go-round.

It’s time to learn the magic of saying YES. Im going to make YES your new favorite word. Imagine what you want most in life right now. Dream BIG. Think of what your ideal life would look like. See all the tiny details. You have no limitations. You can have exactly what you want.

Money is no object. Your time is your own to spend as you like for as long as you wish. Dream BIGGER now. What fills your soul with more joy than youve ever felt before? Remember the best experience of your life? Start there and make it as amazing as you can.

How are you spending your days and nights? Who are you with? What are you doing? What emotions are coming up? What smells are in the air? What are your favorite foods that youre eating and tasting? What cities and countries are you visiting? What are you wearing?

As you reach out to touch your loved ones youre sharing this life with what sensations run through your hands? -Get as specific as possible. The more specific you are the more youll get out of doing this. I want you to see, hear, feel, taste and smell every little piece of the life you were born to live.

As you walk into your dream house how big are the doors? How high are the walls? How much of the square footage is covered in windows? How have you furnished it? How many rooms does it have? How many rooms does your guest house have? How many acres of property do you own? What do you see outside of the windows? A meadow? A stream? The ocean? The sunset?

Is this the most fantastic day of your life? YES, it is. Get more in depth. See how your smile looks. Feel the warmth in your heart and the ease and peace in your spirit. Hear the sounds of the surroundings that feed your soul. Feel the excitement in your bones as you realize that you are actually living in your dream come true.

How amazing do you feel right now? You deserve this life dont you? YES, you do.This is no accident. If you are in a human body then you deserve to use it to build the life you truly want to be living. Hundreds of thousands of people are doing it right now. Can’t you do it too? YES, you can. You may need some help, guidance and support, but you can and you will create the life of your dreams. YES, it’s yours for the taking.

YES, you’re ready. YES, you will live it now. How do you feel right now? YES, right now at this moment. Imagine feeling this light and warm every day. You’re smiling aren’t you? If you aren’t then you didn’t do the exercise above slow enough to absorb it and I invite you to do it again.

Feeling is what creates what we have and do. Positive thinking without honest feeling behind it will leave you wondering why nothing’s changed.

When you learn to consciously create with your feelings you’ll start getting better results in your life. Right now you’re probably getting results based on your unconscious feelings. The scary part of this is that most people only feel in reaction to what happens to them. I’m teaching you how to create with your feelings instead.

This feeling, actually a feeling even lighter and clearer, is the place where my clients learn to live from. If you’d like to learn more about living from an authentic state I invite you to visit www.AngryEnoughToChange.com and read about my Champion Coaching program. This program can support you in experiencing even deeper versions of this ecstatic state.

Please re-read this exercise and get precise about what you want. Simply getting conscious about your desires and feeling as if you’re already living this way will magnetize it to you. You’re creating everyday so you may as well do it consciously to get what you really want. You deserve it, so go for it!

Great Goals Make You Stretch!

I began enhancing my personal energy level three months shy of my 40th birthday and after 2 years of struggling with clinically-diagnosed depression. During this same period, I was challenged, immensely by the debilitating effects of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and being rendered permanently partially disabled as the result of being involved in two car accidents in six days (neither of which was I at fault). I recall an incredible sense of emptiness and a daunting feeling of being completely overwhelmed; especially when trying to figure out which pills went with what ills. Unable to return to the vocation I loved, I received disability payments and simply existed. Most of my time was spent in bed where I eventually became 48 pounds “over-fat.” When dreams and reasons for living are wiped out by the greatest, of the least unexpected, most people priorities typically change. My priorities? Well, they just disappeared. I was defeated physically, emotionally, psychologically, spiritually and knocking on “Financially’s” door. Making the bed was not a priority; it simply went unmade. And when it came down to paying the bills, many went unpaid. One day I was moved enough to actually cultivate the emotion of being “fed up!” During this awakening, I made the decision to reclaim complete responsibility for my life. And I did.

37 months post accidents, I was 51 pounds lighter, and at least 52 times brighter. Following my “awakening” I set goals to become an author, speaker, consultant, educator, and private investigator. I quickly established myself as a successful personal energy consultant. I began to promote and practice life-altering strategies for change. My philosophy is that of a guerilla’s - not a guru’s. And, my approach is innovative, strategic, fun, proven and desired-results focused. I figured, if I overcame all of my physical, spiritual and psychological ailments, discovered how to run faster; jump higher; throw farther; look younger, stay up longer - manifest twice as much energy than I did when I was a “starting” NCAA athlete half my age - anyone else can do the “undoable,” too! Whatever the “undoable,” may be. When clients & friends counter and say, “Maybe it worked for you, Fran, but it won’t necessarily work for me.” I simply say: “Look, I have a central nervous system and so do you; I’m a child of God, and you are too!” They typically smile then sheepishly roll up their sleeves.

Miracles happen when you audaciously remind one of the Divine.

Paramount to enhancing my personal energy level was to identify, outline and write down my physical goals. Returning to playing competitive softball, being the team’s starting “short stop” and winning the league championship were my top three goals. I promised myself I would return to play softball at a competitive level if it killed me. It almost did! Playing softball on several teams simultaneously, is quite challenging - even in the so-called recreational leagues. It left me limping around with a blue, pain-alleviating ointment. I had soreness in muscles I never even knew existed! Nevertheless, by season’s end I had accomplished all of my goals.

As I continued following a disciplined program to attain goals in every area of my life, something just short of magical happened. My personality sparked with a resurgence of charisma, confidence and boldness. My muscles grew stronger, my energy increased and the fat melted off my body. Taking part in an activity not only became easier, but quite enjoyable. Suddenly, I was living life as I had designed.

Great goals make you stretch. They can take you well beyond anything you could possibly imagine! The most important part of setting great goals is not the goals themselves, but the person you become in the stretch!

How Do We Handle Algebra?

It is safe to say that algebra is the heart of mathematics. An in depth knowledge of algebra and its basics is required before you could work on more complex mathematical problems . If someone asks you to calculate the product of 223 and 112, you can easily do it manually or with a calculator. However, in a case where you need to work around the exponential of 223 and logarithm of 112, you will certainly need an algebraic problem solver. Graphing a circle will be easy for this given formula X2 + Y2 = 4 but when it comes for an inequality like (X-2)2 + (Y-4)2 > 20 then it will be quite harder to plot the graph. In this situation algebra software program can help you immensely because once you enter the inequality in the program, the graph will get plotted automatically within very little time. Such software can easily work out any kind of algebraic, arithmetic and radical expressions of any level of complexity.

Domain and Range of a Function

Although, finding the domain and range of a function such as Y = X2 can be easily found by considering the number range on the X-Y plane, defining the domain and range of a log(tan 2x + sin 3x) = cosine(-4)(2x) will be very difficult. But now you can solve such critical and complex problems with an algebra calculator without breaking sweat and you will also be getting all the steps as well

Coordinate Geometry

Now you can easily find the vertex and directrix and whether parabola opens up or down by just feeding the equation into algebra software program. In addition, subtraction and multiplication of binomials, you are more likely to become exhausted because they require a lot of terms to be manipulated. But algebra calculator will do this job in much less time and with 100% accuracy. Similarly, algebra calculators can save the trouble for you in calculating matrices of 33 or 44 order or its reverse matrices.

So, with the introduction of algebra software programs, the times where you dreaded the sight of indices, fractions or linear equations , comes to an end. If you could not stand geometry, you may even start liking it henceforth thanks to the computerized algebra systems that will automatically plot everything you ever need.

Fitness and Health

For most of us from the government schools, PE (physical education) was in the school curriculum. So we had no choice but to comply and treat it as one of the school subjects. For the outdoor initiated, the PE lessons were great as it gave many an outlet for all the youthful hormones to exert themselves. For those of us who dread PE (including myself), our main thoughts were more like “what is the use of PE when it doesn’t improve our exam scores.” We were so wrong then.

Only now, as we approach the middle age do we realized the mistake of not having built up a more robust physique through our younger days to handle the pressures and stress of today’s life. However, it is not too late. It is not the end of my life yet. I can still make a difference.

Didn’t someone once said, that the glory of this temple in our later days will be more glorious than our former ones. So here I am, writing something on fitness hoping to spur my middle aged body on to greater heights.

The best way to good health is mild to moderate physical exercises. This suits me just fine, because we are so, so busy and time is a precious commodity in today’s economy. The least amount of time spent on physical torturing exercises and yet be able to help me maintain a healthy body - will be just right for me.

All I want to achieve is a healthy body. I am not a fitness guru or an exercise freak (sorry for the term used). I enjoy a little bit of laziness once a while.

I like to pamper myself with some pleasures such as fine dining and couching in front of the TV. But I realized that this cannot be the norm or else I will be digging my own grave sooner rather than later.

Do you want to be fit or do you want to be healthy? Hey, I thought that meant the same.

Well, fitness has been defined in relation to a concept called physical work capacity, or how much work the body can do. A person’s fitness can be determined in a laboratory by looking at how much energy they can produce on a cycle ergometer when cycling at a specific heart rate, or on an athletic track by looking at how far they can run in a set time. Fitness can also be understood in relation to a number of components including endurance, flexibility, strength and power. You need to be fit to play many sports, including football, hockey and tennis.

On the other hand, good health is a broader concept that includes being free from sicknesses and diseases, and be in a proper state of mental and spiritual wellbeing.

Normally, being fit and being healthy go hand in hand. But it is not always so. For example, you can be very fit, through playing tennis, but suffer a major health problem such as alcoholism.

When we understand these two concepts and the difference between fitness and good health, then you will realized that actually you need less exercise to be healthy. You actually need more exercise to get fit and to remain fit.

How to be fit?

Many people have a need to be fit because their jobs or careers demands it. If you are an athlete or a sportsman you need to be fit or else you are out of the game. If you are a soldier or a fireman, you need to be fit because it could mean a life or death decision for you just when you need it the most.

To be fit, you will have to follow a set program of exercise which we call training. Proper training will always take place in a right and professional environment that have the facilities to train you through expert and regimented supervision. Examples of such fitness training are gymnastic training, running, weight lifting, swimming programs etc.

In such an environment, the intensity of the exercise program is varied to achieve the different levels of fitness. It means that if you want to be very, very fit, you need to exercise at an above moderate or high intensity level. Normally, in achieving such fitness goal levels, the individual will undoubtedly also become healthier. However, if you don’t want to be fit but just healthy, you don’t have to exercise as hard.

How to be healthy?

On the other hand, if all you want to be is healthy, then you just need a milder level of exercises to be healthy and to remain in good health. Sometimes the fear and anxiety of suffering from heart diseases, excessive cholesterol in blood stream, obesity or mental health problems, propels us to remain physically active.

You do not need to have the same intensity of training to remain healthy as compared to remain fit. You can encompass your physical exercises into your normal routine. Instead of getting into your compact car and drive round the block, purpose to park at a distance and walk all the way. Walk through the golf course and carry your own bag instead of hitching a golf cart or engage a caddie. Perform some simple exercises behind the office desk using isometric exercises when nobody is looking. Do some pushup or situps in between commercials in the TV.

All I am saying is you don’t need to torture yourself to remain healthy.

Some active living tips:

* Use the stairs instead of the lift or escalator.

* Don’t use the remote control to change TV channels. Get up from your chair.

* Bring along your jogging shoes when you travel outstation, just in case you find
some free time for a short walk/jog.

To be healthy, some experts recommend being physically active on at least five days out of seven.

We’re increasingly living in a world where we require less and less physical activity in our lives. We have domestic appliances to wash and dry for us, cars to transport us and desks at which to sit and work or study.
In school we are always told to ’sit still’.

In view of these “bad” technological influences that have stopped us from moving, any physical activity is a health gain.

Not everyone can subscribe to a magic formula on the amount of exercise in order to achieve a benefit.

The right key is to make an effort and persevere. As soon as you move, you win!

If you have no idea at all for keep-fit ideas, consider some of the following?

* dancing - you name the style

* bikes, scooters, inline skates and skateboarding

* ice skating, dry skiing and snowboarding

* gymnastics/tumbling

* swimming

* martial arts

* gym-based activities

* team sports (football, volleyball, basketball, baseball etc)

* walking

* skipping or jump rope

* kites and frisbees

* hide and seek

* dog walking

For young people, you can also exercise and earn money at the same time: wash the car, shovel snow, do the shopping, wash the windows, vacuum or do the gardening.

Cheers to Healthy Living.

John McCain and Barack Obama Fish for Catholics

None of the current nominees for the US presidency is Catholic. Yet everybody knew why John McCain recently visited the Basilica of Guadalupe. The Basilica of Guadalupe houses Mexico’s most venerated religious image — a 16th-century icon of a brown-skinned Virgin Mary, the Lady of Guadalupe. Next to the Saint Peter Basilica at the Vatican, the site is the second most-visited Catholic shrine in the world. Catholics represent 47 million voters or one-fourth of all votes in the US. In the past 9 elections, 8 have garnered the most Catholic votes. Large Catholic support also rakes in Hispanic and working-class voters by default. Best of all, 20% of Catholic votes are swing. Time released a poll Thursday showing McCain trumping Obama, 45 to 44 percent in Catholic support. Still this doesn’t bode well for McCain. It appears that the margin just keeps narrowing in favor of Barack Obama, in a turnout unthinkable months ago. In fact, Barack Obama had been ever the laggard with Hillary, beloved by most American Catholics. Most probably its Obama’s rhetoric, which is rife with bible passages, that has won over the Catholics. Or maybe there is something Jesus-like about his economic policies too. In any case, Catholics have increasingly found a savior in Obama. McCain needs to be prudent about whose anointments to take. By getting the endorsement of John Hagee, who branded the Catholic Church “the great whore of Babylon,” McCain is only dashing his hopes at veneration.

Where Do Goals Come From?

What gives rise to your goals? What determines whether you even set goals at all?

I believe the answer is your context. Your context is your collection of beliefs about reality. It’s the soil in which your thoughts grow.

For example, if you have very materialistic goals and have become skilled at achieving them, then you probably have a very materialistic context. Your beliefs about reality are rooted in materialism.

This is just common sense, right? You will tend to take actions that seem reasonable to you. And the question of reasonableness is answered by your context. What is reasonable to you depends on how you happen to view reality.

You don’t actually make any decisions based on reality itself, do you? You make decisions based on your interpretation of reality. Your sensory input, your memories, and your thoughts and beliefs comprise your map of reality. You ultimately base your decisions on this map.

So where does context come from?

For the most part, we inherit it. We learn our contexts by absorbing the contexts of other people. We’re conditioned by our upbringing, education, family, community, government, media, the Internet, etc. The people we meet, the books we read, the things we see on TV these all contribute to our context. They help us determine how to interpret reality. Even this web site is making a small contribution towards shaping your context.

For example, what is marriage? Is it a legal arrangement? A religious sacrament? A connection between soulmates? Dependent on the couple? How you answer this question will depend on your context. Ask different people and you’ll get different answers.

After reaching adulthood most people don’t change their context much. It’s possible that you may set and achieve many goals but barely question your context at all. It’s like being a farmer who grows crops year after year in essentially the same soil, the same plot of land. It seems very natural and normal to do this. It’s simply a matter of doing what you’ve always been doing.

You can achieve some interesting results in life just by living within your current context. But if you learn how to manipulate your context as well, you can gain access to an even greater field of experiences.

Every context is a lens through which you view reality, and each lens will enhance some parts of your life and weaken others. The problem is that most people have grown so used to their current context that they forget they have one. Thus, they mistake their context for reality itself rather than seeing it for the lens it is. Over the next few weeks, I’m going to help you to better understand your own context and to give you the tools to make changes at that level.

Sometimes external events can jolt you into a new context. After 9/11 many Americans experienced a context shift. Others were largely unaffected. Have you ever intentionally undertaken a context switch, however? Have you ever intentionally changed your interpretation of reality just for the experience? For example, do you ever say to yourself, “I’m going to try a different religion this year?”

Switching contexts in this manner is something I’ve been doing for more than a decade, and later this week I’ll share some things I’ve learned along the way. I think you’ll find it interesting.

Steve is intensely growth-oriented. He trained in martial arts, ran the L.A. Marathon, and graduated from college in three semesters with two degrees. He can juggle, count cards at blackjack, and make damn good guacamole. Steve is also a polyphasic sleeper, sleeping just 2-3 hours per day and only 20 minutes at a time. So chances are good that he’s awake right now.
