The Kravis Center
Recently, Claremont McKenna College announced that they accepted landmark gift worth $75 million from the Marie Josee and Henry R. Kravis Foundation.
The Claremont McKenna College named the building after Marie Josee Kravis and Henry Kravis in recognition of the landmark gift.
Designed by famous architect Rafael ViSoly, The Kravis Center will serve as a dramatic new entrance to the Claremont McKenna campus. Upon its completion in 2010, The Kravis Center will house state-of-the-art classrooms, five of the College’s 10 research institutes, faculty offices, as well as the Office of Admission and Financial Aid. Made even more splendid by a series of exterior terraces and a center courtyard, the building will be perfect for informal gatherings.
Marie Josee Kravis’ husband Henry has always made it his responsibility to extend whatever help and support he can to Claremont McKenna especially since the college has given him a lot in terms of education and preparing for the real world. The $75 million, according to him, serves as his and his wife’s commitment to the college.
In 2006, Marie Josee Kravis, together with her husband, founded The Henry R. Kravis Prize in Leadership. Some of its recipients include Roy L. Prosterman, Fazle Abed and The Forum for African Women Educationalists.
