The Fire pit

The meat must be wrapped very tightly before placing it in the fire pit for the cooking process. Once your decision has been made to what item or product you will use then you will follow these steps carefully. After flavoring the meat, you will wrap the meat with several layers of aluminum foil or the other product you decided to use. The meat in the foil must be wrapped thoroughly with lots of wet burlap material this is done to preserve the juices, flavors, and the heat. Finally you will need to wrap the meat package with a heavy wire. When wrapping the meat package with heave wire be sure to wrap it very securely and tie it off extremely tight. This process will not only preserve the juices, heat, and flavors but it will also give you something to hold onto securely when placing into the fire pit.

A tip to remember when you are cooking a whole hog on a fire pit is sure to prop the mouth open because this will allow the heat to thoroughly cook the entire hog. Once the meat is in the fire pit you will need to cover it all with dirt. By covering the meat package with dirt ensure that the burlap material will not burn because no oxygen will get inside the pit. The hot coals is what allows the meat to cook for up to several days if needed. Once the meat is fully cooked to time it will be time for everyone to enjoy the wonderful feast.

Practically all broadcast systems use antennas to transmit and receive radio signals. These Satellite TV antennas are based on single metal pole to which the carrier signal is sent through a cable. First let’s talk about how this most simple type of antenna works:

Pole Antenna
A Pole antenna basically consists of one metal pole that transmits it signals around it as if it was the center of a sphere. In all directions the transmitted signal has the same power. The length of the antenna is determined by the frequency of the transmitted signal.

Radio waves, like light waves, always travel at the same speed, which is about 186.000 miles (300.000 km) per second. One wave length is determined by the frequency of the signal by the following formula:

Wavelength = speed of light / frequency

This results in higher frequencies having shorter wavelengths. A pole antenna doesn’t have to have the length of a complete antenna but can also have a length of about , 1/8, or 1/16 of the wave length. This is done mostly for practical purposes (shorter antennas). Wave lengths for pole antennas can go as high as 1 to 2 Giga Hertz. A cell phone for instance works at frequencies of 950 Mega Hertz which is almost 1 Giga Hertz.

Satellite TV or Parabolic Antenna

A satellite TV Antenna or parabolic antenna works on the same principle. The frequencies used by satellite transmissions are of much higher frequencies; 2 Giga Hertz or higher. Wavelengths get so short at these frequencies that it is not possible anymore to transmit using a pole antenna and transmit in all directions. The power needed would be very high because high frequencies are subject to much more resistance from the atmosphere.

Bundling all the transmitted power into a beam improves the power transmitted in one direction by a huge factor. Depending on the distance between the transmitter and the receiver the amplification compared to a normal pole antenna can be as high as 40 to 50 dB (which is as much as 10.000 to 100.000 times amplification).

In reality the beam is not completely straight, but gets wider over the distance. The angle is small, but in case of an antenna on a satellite that transmits all over the USA the angle is actually a little bigger so that the whole USA is covered.

The antenna at your roof or in your garden is pointed at the satellite and receives the signal and does the same thing; it bundles the radio waves into a point, thus amplifying the radio signal with 40 to 50 dB. (see illustration below).

Amplification in the whole path is extremely big. The transmitting antenna amplifies, the receiving antenna amplifies, the transmitter it self amplifies, and the receiver itself also amplifies the signal. A total amplification of over 120 dB (over 1.000.000.000.000 times) is necessary because the atmosphere and also the long distance just decrease the signal power a lot.

Lady Forte-You and Me

Artist: Lady Forte
Title: You and Me
Genre: Jazz-R & B-Pop
Label: Excalibur Records
Website: http://www.fortecarter.com

Forte Carter is the author of a classic jazz-pop vocal style. In the manner of legendary vocalists such as Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan, she gives her golden vocal chords a tasteful workout with a solid new album titled You and Me.

I think covering time-tested standards was a very good idea for Lady Forte. Her voice is well suited for these great tunes. Her rendition of “God Bless The Child” is gorgeous and heartfelt every step of the way. “Lola” is my favorite tune on the album. She sounds so sultry and in command. You will be a believer once you hear the song that Lola always gets what she wants so does Ms. Carter evidently. She hits some incredibly high notes during the course of this recording. If you can remember the old Memorex commercial where Ella Fitzgerald breaks a wine glass with her amazingly high ranges, then you can understand the kind of range you will hear repeatedly on this CD.

Just as there is a great woman behind any great man, there is a great band behind any great singer. There is no exception to that rule here. The Carter orchestra featuring Arc Sano (piano) provides the superb accompaniment for the lady on every track. You may say that this is yet another cover CD and you have heard all of these songs hundreds of times - well it is not your typical album. Think for a minute how beautiful and meaningful all of these songs are. If performed properly they always sound so wonderful no matter how many times you hear them. All of the songs receive the most care and excellence by this talented vocalist.

With beautiful music and vocals, this is a real slice of the divine for you to absorb, body and soul. If you like quality music and a songbird that does each individual track the justice it deserves, wait until you hear this album, it will knock your socks off.

A Quick Eyeball at the 9 Best Method Acting Greats

As with so many subjective “things” in life, there is a great
deal disagreement over who are the best method acting greats in
the acting business and in movies. A good place to start in a
search for the best of the method acting greats is the famed
Actor’s Studio in New York City. Run for fifty years by the
imitable Lee Strasberg, the Actor’s Studio turned out some of
the great method acting legends in movies of the 20th century.

Acting greats that were part of the Actor’s Studio and who were
instructed by Lee Strasberg include:

1. Marlon Brando. Brando necessarily must be on list of any
great method actor. Particularly in his early roles, Brando
breathed a believability into his work that truly transcended
the movies he appeared in and made it seem as if he were the
living and breathing character he portrayed.

2. Sidney Poitier. No actor in the 20th century broke down more
barriers in Hollywood than did Poitier. And, he accomplished so
much because of his ability to inhabit the souls of his
characters and bring them to life on the big screen

2. James Dean. Although his life tragically was cut short,
Dean’s short passage across the cinema screen and in movies is
remarkable. Serious thinkers in the world of film credit Dean
for cutting a believable stride in the few roles that he did
play on the screen before his untimely death. There is near
universal agreement that had Dean lived beyond his youth, he
would be one of only a few actors who dominate the business,
even today.

3. Robert de Niro. De Niro remains one of the hottest properties
in movies today. Whether playing the role of a dangerous
psycho-path to a silly, paranoid father in a happy comedy, de
Niro’s work is shaped by his work with Strasberg. Indeed, the
typical movie-goer forgets de Niro’s prior characters in movies
each time they view him in a new film.

4. Marilyn Monroe. Certainly, some people scowl when Monroe’s
name is mentioned as a great method actor. But, Strasberg
himself considered Monroe to be one of his greatest pupils of
all time. (Indeed, Monroe lived with Strasberg and his wife
during her time at the Actor’s Studio.) Most people fail to
remember that Monroe abandoned Hollywood at the height of her
fame in movies to study under Strasberg at the Actor’s Studio,
so intent was she on becoming a fine actor. According to
Strasberg himself, Monroe succeed as a method actress,
particularly in comedic roles. He maintained until his death
that no actor had comedic timing and a method-based screen
presence that could challenge Monroe. Like Dean, had she
survived, she would have developed into one of the most
formidable screen actors of the 20th century.

Beyond the Actor’s Studio alumni, there are numerous other
strong method actors that have established a sense of greatness
through their careers and work.

5. Rod Steiger. Steiger’s career in movies spanned over fifty
years and included roles that brought him three Oscar
nominations and one Oscar for Best Actor for his performance in
“In the Heat of the Night” in 1967 opposite Sidney Poitier. He
filled his roles in such a way that the characters he played on
film will long be remembered and his personal essence is a bit
misty.

6. Martin Landau. Landau has mastered some of the most complex
roles in theater and motion picture history. He has been
described as not only playing a character in movies or on the
stage — but assuming and becoming the character through and
through.

7. Dennis Hopper. Perhaps some consider the Wichita, Kansas,
resident an unlikely choice for one of the great method actors
of the 20th century, but Hopper’s turns on the screen have been
phenomenal. From his early roles through his most recent fare,
Hopper has fashioned characters that are now etched on the
psyche of filmgoers the world over.

8. Charlize Theron. Women are noticeably a rare breed on lists
of great method actors. While there are many formidable women on
the screen today, very few of them have involved themselves in
the method school as part of their training. With that said, one
of the most extraordinary actresses in movies of the 20th and
21st century is Theron. Perhaps no actress in decades has so
assumed a role than has Theron in “Monster” in which she
actually seems to become the psychopathic, real life serial
killer Aileen Wuornos. Theron won critical acclaim and an
Academy Award for her work on this film.
