Green Police Uphold Environmental Laws

The Green Police, on assignment for New York City’s Department of Environmental Conservation, are currently making sure New Yorkers are following environmental laws. New Yorkers will have to make sure that they are following green laws, or the Green Police will have the power to issue them citations for violating the law.

The Green Police carry around equipment such as emission measuring tools to ensure that all vehicles are adhering to New York State’s car emission laws. In addition to making sure vehicles are not belching too much CO2 into the atmosphere, the Green Police also have the power to inspect fish vendors. It is important to tightly regulate fish sales to ensure fish stocks around the world are not depleted. Part of this environmental initiative is making sure fish vendors are not selling endangered fish species. Fish vendors are also not permitted to sell fish that are too small. That way, fish can get a chance to replenish their population from heavy fishing. This is where the Green Police come in. They go to fish vendors (in such places as Chinatown) to make sure the fish being sold are not too small. The Green Police also check out illegal shellfish are not being sold; certain kinds of shellfish are not permitted on the US market if they come from certain waters.

Environment, Health and Safety

Bacardi Limted, the world’s leading spirits producer, have tracked down its performance both globally and locally by using five key performance indicators in favor of the Bacardi’s Environment, Health and Safety issues such as water use, energy use, greenhouse gas emissions, absenteeism, as well as occupational accidents that could lead to lost time.

The firm keeps track of the progress against targets at all their facilities regularly. The operation is supported by a listing of key concerns and actions to further improve performance. The company’s focus on these measuers have supported improvements in several areas.

The Bacardi Environment, Health and Safety performance data has been derived from a compilation of returns from all of Bacardi’s wholly owned manufacturing sites in America, Europe, and Asia.

To better reflect the actual Bacardi environment performance, greenhouse gases and water metrics are reported separately for bottling facilites and distilleries since the combination of distilling and bottling metrics have been found to be poor indicators of the resource utilization efficiency. Data on environment and safety is complied from estimates offered by the sites, using a standard methodology.

These efforts manifests Bacardi’s commitment in seeking continual development, which in turn leads to an increased accuracy of estimated environmental data.
